Syrien: CIA:s al-Qaida-länkade legoknektar - planerade terrorattentat med stridsgasen Sarin

RT 2013-05-30

*

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soviet war in Afghanistan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Soviet war in Afghanistan lasted nine years from December 1979 to February 1989.
Part of the Cold War, it was fought between Soviet-led Afghan forces against multi-national insurgent groups called the Mujahideen. The insurgents received military training in neighboring Pakistan and China, as well as[8] billions of dollars from the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.[2][3][4][8][23] The decade-long war resulted in millions of Afghans fleeing their country, mostly to Pakistan and Iran. Hundreds of thousands of Afghan civilians were killed in addition to the participants in the war. The initial Soviet deployment of the 40th Army in Afghanistan began on December 24, 1979, under Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev.[24] The final troop withdrawal started on May 15, 1988, and ended on February 15, 1989, under the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev. Due to the interminable nature of the war, the conflict in Afghanistan has sometimes been referred to as the "Soviet Union's Vietnam War" or the "Bear Trap".[25][26][27] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_war_in_Afghanistan

RT 2013-05-30
Turkish security forces found a 2kg cylinder with sarin gas after searching the homes of Syrian militants from the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Nusra Front who were previously detained, Turkish media reports. The gas was reportedly going to be used in a bomb.

The sarin gas was found in the homes of suspected Syrian Islamists detained in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersia following a search by Turkish police on Wednesday, reports say. The gas was allegedly going to be used to carry out an attack in the southern Turkish city of Adana.

On Monday, Turkish special anti-terror forces arrested 12 suspected members of the Al-Nusra Front, the Al-Qaeda affiliated group which has been dubbed "the most aggressive and successful arm” of the Syrian rebels. The group was designated a terrorist organization by the United States in December.

Police also reportedly found a cache of weapons, documents and digital data which will be reviewed by police.

Following the searches, five of those detained were released following medical examinations at the Forensic Medicine Institution Adana. Seven suspects remain in custody. Turkish authorities are yet to comment on the arrests.

A Proxy War Is Raging In Syria

May 31, 2013

Source: Washington’s Blog

Right now inside Syria, Hezbollah terrorist fighters – backed by the Syrian government, Iran and Lebanon – are fighting Al Qaeda, Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood terrorist fighters – backed by the U.S., Israel, the Eurozone, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

BBC reports:
The military chief of the main umbrella group of Syrian rebels … claimed that more than 7,000 fighters of the Lebanese Shia movement [Hezbollah ] were taking part in attacks on the rebel-held town of Qusair.
The French foreign minister has estimated the number at 3,000-4,000.
***
Hezbollah fighters have been in Syria for some time now but their numbers appear to have grown rapidly over the last few weeks ….
Not only did the U.S., Israel and Saudi Arabia largely create, sponsor and fund Al Qaeda, but also two other groups fighting on the side of the Syrian rebelsHamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
This is a proxy war.
As we’ve documented in detail, the U.S., Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and their allies back the Sunni jihadists against Shia Muslims.  Indeed, the U.S. is involved in a religious war – between the two factions of Islam (and is actually backing the most violent elements) – as part of a geopolitical strategy to exert control over the natural gas market.
BBC notes:
[There is] growing concern in the US that the conflict in Syria is morphing into a complex regional war by proxy.
ABC News reports:
Hezbollah and Al Qaeda fighters edging closer to full scale confrontation

CIA’s al-Qaeda Mercenaries in Syria Caught with Sarin Gas

- Establishment media refuses to focus on fact al-Qaeda in Syria is the chemical weapons threat

In an effort to up the ante in Syria and force the United States to intervene militarily, the British government on Wednesday sent a letter to United Nations boss Ban ki-moon alleging three new incidents of the al-Assad regime using chemical weapons against so-called rebels.
*
The British and French have yet to provide conclusive evidence that the Syrian regime has in fact used chemicals weapons. Due to a lack of evidence, the Obama administration has balked on using military force in Syria.

“Although there is little sign of the UN investigations team declaring chemical weapons have been used, western governments say that reporting of such incidents keeps up pressure on the Assad government and could deter it from large-scale use of chemical weapons,” The Guardian reported on Wednesday.
“There is increasingly strong evidence of localized use of chemical weapons,” French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius claimed on Monday. “We are consulting with our partners to see what concrete consequences that we are going to draw from this.”

According to Turkish officials, however, there is concrete evidence that CIA’s mercenaries operating in Syria under the leadership of the al-Nusra Front, a terrorist group aligned with al-Qaeda in Syria, are in possession of deadly sarin gas and planned to use it against the Syrian Army.

On Wednesday, Turkish officials found the gas in the homes of al-Nusra terrorists in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersia following a search by Turkish police. The terrorists planned to use the gas in an attack in the southern Turkish city of Adana, RT reports today.

Syrian army seizes sarin cylinders from militants in Hama

June 2, 2013
The Syrian army has seized two cylinders of the nerve agent sarin during an operation in the city of Hama.

Syrian media say the operation was carried out against a militant hideout in the city’s al-Faraieh neighborhood on Saturday.

Sarin is a colorless, odorless liquid gas which causes respiratory arrest and death. The poisonous agent has been classified as a weapon of mass destruction in UN Resolution 687.

The foreign-backed militants in Syria have repeatedly threatened to use such weapons.

A video released last December showed them testing chemical agents on lab rabbits and threatening to kill pro-government Syrians.

On May 5, the UN Independent Commission of Inquiry on Syria said it found testimony from victims and medical staff that showed foreign-backed militants had used the nerve agent in Syria.

On March 19, over two dozen people were killed and many others injured when militants fired missiles containing a chemical substance into a village near the northwestern city of Aleppo, according to a report by Syria’s official news agency SANA.

On May 30, Turkish media reported that the country’s security forces had confiscated two kilograms of sarin after raiding the homes of militants from the terrorist group al-Nusra Front.

The incident took place in Turkey’s southern city of Adana, located some 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the border with Syria.

The Syrian government says Ankara has been playing a key role in fueling the unrest in Syria by financing, training, and arming the militants since the turmoil erupted in March 2011.

Sarin
